It started for me back in the mid 90s. I found a lure called The Renosky Super Snake Topwater, which was a hard plastic floating head with a weedless hook that came with a long snake soft plastic body. They were great, and being the tinkerer that I am, I tried different soft plastics on the head. But the Super Snake had two problems, the head was too big and the hook was too small, so I set out to build my own.
Renosky Super Snake

The first were made from painted over or sharpie colored hard foam bobbers or
wooden saltwater floats. I called them "Pad Thumpers" because their main purpose
was to fish them in heavy lily pads. The Pad Thumper evolved to use a soft foam
head and further evolved to settle on a Rainy's frog body.
Original Concepts

After discovering soft foam heads that were made for people tying popper flys, I
started to experiment with those as the heads. Discovery of the Flyman Surface
Seducer Double Barrel popper head was a game changer and I started to produce
these new "Seducer" lures for myself and my friends.
The Surface Seducers were paired with a long shank Gamakatsu weedless hook and
were wildly successful in hookup rate. However the hooks were hard to find, and
I often ended up buying Bass Pro Enticer Perfect Worm Rig weighted hooks and
cutting the lead off the hook.
Evolving Components
As our (myself and my friends) use of the "Seducers" continued
to produce not only bass, pickerel, and other freshwater fish but big
largemouths were becoming a regular theme. And then came the Snakeheads.
Seducers were getting smashed by snakeheads. I started to make more baits that
targeted more kinds of fish, including expanding to Striped Bass. I experimented
with many clips that could go through the head and attach a hook. We tried many
manufacturers models and sizes of hooks, each of which had their advantages with
certain soft plastic.
More people took notice and I handed out lots of free Seducers. At a certain
point, I was getting too many requests for freebies with the cost of buying
heads hooks and clips, and decided to open up this great and fun lure design to
more people.
Making Trespassers

So now here we are. I am a small shop and work full time, so I can't mass
produce the huge amounts I would need to make to sell these retail. Nor do I
have the time to take online orders and ship products. So selling is limited to
in-person at Fishing Flea Markets or lakeside. Check out our product line, tie
one on, and get ready for Topwater Like You Never Thought Possible!
